Cedar Point - Day 1

9th May 08

Day 1

It’s 9:30pm now. Kinda skipped dinner coz had a heavy lunch about 3plus pm. Checked into Cedar Point this afternoon and got settled down quite okay. Thanks to my friend, JP, here in USA that helped me out a lot from settling documents in the office to bringing us (Nick and I) to open a bank account at National City Bank, to buying groceries at Wal-Mart. I bought 2 cereal boxes and milk for breakfast, bowl, spoon, passion fruit juice, towel, shampoo, conditioner, body wash, water, contact lens solution and there are more buy I don’t remember. Too tired now -.-

I also got my IDD credit of $25 so that I can get to call back since it’s cheaper to call from here to Malaysia. Heard that if I buy a prepaid phone of $20, I’d only need to pay 5cents per sms back to Malaysia. Haven’t decided to get it or not. Hmm…

The uniform (short pants) I got is one size bigger coz Cedar Point ran out of pants that’s my size -.- -.-‘ 2 pairs of shirt and pants and I had to buy a cap and belt too (part of the uniform) Would be going back to the wardrobe to get the sweater (only can wear that to work and the weather here is freaking cold) for $30. Still not sure if the food place I’d be working at needs me to wear white or black shoes (coz some of them wear black and some wear white shoes depending on which food place you are working at) I hope it’s white coz purposely buy it before I came to USA. After coming back to the apartment and met the girls that were staying in room A and B, they told me that I also have to wear a white t-shirt inside my uniform for work. I might only be able to get it later since I’m starting work tomorrow and don’t have enough time to go buy it yet.

Talking about the apartment I’m staying in, there’s 5 rooms (A-E) here. Each room = 3-4 girls. I’m in room D with 2 other China girls that studies in Singapore. Didn’t really talk to them much but the girls from room A & B are really friendly. They are Singaporeans too. Heard that girls from room C are from Malaysia. Some of them bought pans and rice cooker to cook dinner. Not sure about them, but I’d try to get them to include me in their cooking ‘activity’. It’s not going to be easy living with so many girls I guess especially when there’s about 16 girls living together, there’s bound to be dramas happening, I think? I donno. Never experience coming back every day to a place with so many girls. No choice la since I’m here, would try my best to get along with them well

There’s a fridge, dining table, few chairs and a couch in the living room/kitchen. I’m sitting on the couch now as I write this in my dairy. Tried to get online just now but the area was such a ‘hot spot’ with wifi (about 10 computers? And only can use for 20 minutes per person per time) are full. The washroom is quite awful here in the apartment coz there is no toilet door so if wanna do big business, have to lock the main door of the washroom -.-‘

I’m just not very use to holding keys and always locking my room door each time I leave the room. A lil afraid that I might lose them. Am given a Cedar Point 1D card that I have to wear it every time I’m in working.

Am given a cupboard to place my stuffs in my room. Because I’m the last one who came in, I didn’t get the choose which bed out of the 3 I would get to sleep in :-( There is one double decked bed and one single bed. Would have choose to sleep in the single bed if I was the first one that came in. Anyway, am sleeping at the bottom of the double decked bed :-( :-( :-(

The weather is cold here, really cold. Nothing like what JP mentioned. He said it’s like Genting weather, but heck it’s so much colder than Genting here -.- It’s windy too. Have to get use to the weather and not get sick anymore. My cough got a lil better but not recovered yet. Hope I get well really soon.

Still having a lil jet lag now but forcing myself to sleep at the ‘right time’ so that I wouldn’t feel sleepy during work tomorrow. Would start work at 12pm. Would need to take the bus from the apartment to Cedar Point. Bus comes every 20 minutes I think. It also takes us to the Sandusky town but I’ve yet to try it out yet.

I wish I bought my laptop (if only I had one) here coz it’s going to be boring living without the internet. Donno can survive or not la! Ai… Feeing not connected to the world outside of me now without internet wherever and whenever I want to use it (like before).

K la, I wanna nanai now. Will check out Cedar Point tomorrow and tell you more about.

Ta :-)
