A new companion...

After much email back and forth regarding the Work & Travel in USA to Out of the Box's representative; Yeen.
After paying the deposit for the programme and more emails.
After the Yeen failed to hook me up with another chic (coz I didn't want to compromise and work at another place - the place where the other chic wanted to go)
After more emails about the recruiting agencies that will be interviewing and hiring students...

Today, I finally went for the Work and Travel in USA's Hiring Event at Shangri-la hotel.
Time: *Required to be there before 8.30am.I actually nearly couldn't wake up for it. 8.30am is just too early (like my morning Monday classes) Luckly, I made it there in time before the presentation started.
8-9am Registration
9-9.30am Presentation
9.30-11am Session 1 interview
So there I was, sitting alone with NO ONE that I knew at the hall. To my delight, after spending some lonely time there (still - before the presentation started) Yeen introduced me to a guy. Nick - was his name. After conversing with him for a while, only did he 'inform' me that he was also doing Mass Communication in UCSI. MY GOSH! I though that UCSI was hopeless and full of *this* kind of people. Finally, UCSI wasn't that hopeless after all - can still be saved, I guess.
We talked from the time he sat next to me... through out the whole presentation... and through the waiting to be interviewed session. He told me he made his decision to join the programme only a few days ago and was actually waiting for me to arrive (at Shangri-la) when Yeen told him that we were in the same college and will be heading to the same workplace.
The both of us were mentally prepared to go to USA alone, due to the same factors too. (I couldn't possibly be waiting and depending on my friends with the 'I will follow you' attitude to work and travel with me to USA, and so couldn't he.)
I am honestly glad to meet a new found friend that I would be working and traveling with, to USA.After the presentation, we had to wait for our interview session and we somehow got bored of waiting (despite him being so talkative) so he took out his iPod and we watch a movie from there!!! :)

Only at 11+am did they called us for an interview. The representative from Cedar Point, Amanda, was a really nice lady. She brief us on what to expect , what jobs were available, the necessary things we need to know and stuffs like that before she interview us one by one. The funny thing that she asked us before the interview was;
Amanda: So how long have you 2 been together?
Esther: Erm.. you mean, how long we KNOW each other? Well... *looks at watch* approximately for 3 hours?
So we went through our interview. Nick and I decided to work at the F&B department. And obviously... we got the job. Now all we need to do is to wait for emails from Cedar Point for further instructions.
After the interview session, Nick and I went to Sg. Wang to have lunch. He accompanied me there because I was suppose to meet a friend later in the afternoon and I was alone. Later, after lunch only did my friend called up to 'inform' me of some inconvenience and would not be able to meet me. So, not knowing what to do and not wanting to walk Sg. Wang, we headed to Pavilion. Nick wanted to check out the place as he have not been there before.
Pavilion's Chinese New Year's decoration is up already.
THANK GOD NO CHINESE NEW YEAR SONGS IN PAVILION!!!

With this picture (below) I introduce to you NICK *clap* *clap* *clap*

We walked quite a bit at Pavilion, checked out the Fish Spa, went into MAC (computer) store, tried a few clothes on (coz I just had to get MORE CNY clothes) at stores there.. then he suddenly turned to me and said...
Nick: How come you look different in the mirror?
Esther: -.-' photogenic. I don't look as good in real life if compared to the reflection and photographs, right?
Nick: Erm.. yeah.
Esther: You just 'discovered' ONE thing that not many people realized about me.
So finally, it was so random, we were walking past LiJin and something caught my eyes. The word 'DISCOUNT' did the trick.

We both wanted to have a seat and we ended up in the restaurant. Eating dim sum, not long after having our lunch.

We ordered:
Custard & Pineapple Bun

Shanghai Xiao Loong Bao

The restaurant was pretty empty at this odd time of the day

They were here right when we were about to leave Pavilion:
