Bellatrix Black

Name origin: "bellatrix" = Latin for "female warrior;" also the name of a brilliant star in the constellation Orion that is sometimes called "the Amazon star."

Bellatrix Black was born to Cygnus and Druella (Rosier) Black. She is the elder sister of Andromeda and Narcissa, and first cousin to Sirius and Reguls Black. She is a pure blood witch blood witch born into the Black family and subscribes enthusiastically to the Black family notion of pure blood superiority. Bella was never fond of her cousins, especially the irritating elder one. But still talks to Regulus if they were to meet each other. She hates her rebellious sister and cousin (Andromeda and Sirius). Bellatrix and Andromeda look very alike except for their eyes and hair colour. Bella's eyes and hair are black while Andromeda's are brown. They used to be really close, but everything ended right at the moment when Andromeda was sorted into Gryfendors. Bellatrix then shifted her attention to her little sister, Narcissa, which she calls Cissy. “Bella” is the name that Narcissa (the exceptional few that got away with calling her that other than oh-so-famous Lord Voldemort) when everyone else got yelled at. Bella has a soft spot for Narcissa, the baby of the family. She is neither close to her Father or Mother. (She might have a best friend, but I haven't decide on that too)

Physically she has the aristocratic Black good looks, slightly pale skin, tall with thick black hair and heavily-lidded eyes and air of arrogance. Briefly described as a handsome woman. At the back of her right shoulder she has a 'tattoo' of her initial, “B” and a figure of a dangerous and angry snake's head showing it's fangs, at the lower middle part of the alphabet.

She has a very strong personality and would hardly let anyone control her and can be very bossy when in a group. She is daring and the kind of person that stood up for what she believes in. She is very hard headed and persistent. She minds her own business most of the time but never, never ever step on her “tail” as she has a fierce and dangerous temper, a trait she shares with her cousin Sirius and her aunt Walburga. She also has paranoid tendencies and is easily distracted when riled and loses all self control easily.

She lacks the patience of persuading or comforting others but that never did bother her a bit. She has little friends as she is picky with those that she hangs around with.

Bellatrix fostered a dark sadistic nature; she was drawn to the Unforgivable Curses, particularly to the torture of others using the Cruciatus Curse. She delights in torture and pain. As callous and sadistic as she is, Bellatrix is nothing if not devoted. She is capable of tremendous loyalty and bravery and because of that she would had been sorted out into Gryfendor. However she was sorted into Slytherin mainly because of her genuine pure blood fanatic and retained prejudices throughout her school life. As a student in Hogwarts, she is associated with her group of students, Snape, Avery, the Lestrage brothers, Evan Rosier and Wilkes – who nearly all becomes Death Eaters.

Her wand is made out of Walnut, 12 3/4", Dragon Heartstring, which she is particularly proud of it and also one of the main reasons why Bellatrix is an extremely skilled duelist and good at Occlumency. Mr. Ollivander describes her wand as unyielding.

She shows much interest in Quidditch and is a good Chaser but she was not allowed to be a part of her house team for a simple reason, because she is a “she”. She would make a good team leader if the Slytherins would not be so picky on their player’s size.

She met Rabastan on her first day of Hogwarts when the two were sorted out into Slytherin house. And since then, it was obvious that he had a “little” crush on her. Despite Bella’s dislikes of him stalking her and being “a little too sticky” towards her, the both of them became friends at the end of their first year. (Some drama will happen between the Lestrange brothers and Bella but I haven’t decided what it is yet) Through Rabastan, she got to know his elder brother Rodolphus which eventually, the person Bella later marries “because it was expected of her”. Later in the years, her only love is given to Lord Voldemort and him alone. Bellatrix is fanatically devoted to Lord Voldemort. Bellatrix was at least initially drawn to Lord Voldemort because they both believe in an ideology that favors pure-bloods over other members of the wizarding community. This elitism, shared by the Malfoy and Lestrange clans, was instilled in Bellatrix since childhood. The Black family motto, "toujours pur" (French for "always pure"), reflects this steadfast belief in blood purity.

She lives with her family at a house only a few streets away the other Blacks's, Sirius and Regulus's place.

Bellatrix is remembered fondly by Kreacher--the one faithful pure blood enthusiast left in Grimmauld Place. He keeps a photograph of her by his bed under the kitchen boiler.

She owns a female black cat with a peculiar name and a white patch at the end of its tail named Fou, which means 'crazy' in French. It was Bella's pet since she started Hogwarts. Wild was the best word to describe it; also, as bad-tempered as it's owner and would not hesitate to show its claws and scratch anything that's in it's way.
